Dr. Shilpi Karmakar is an accomplished plastic and reconstructive surgeon, academician, and researcher presently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery at AIIMS Jodhpur since July 2024. She previously served as Assistant Professor in the same department from 2021 to 2024.

She completed her M.Ch. training in Plastic Surgery at King George's Medical University and earned the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Plastic Surgery in 2019. Her academic journey began with an MS in General Surgery from G.S.V.M. Medical College. Over the years, she has developed extensive expertise in burns management, reconstructive microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, cleft reconstruction, and complex wound care.

Dr. Karmakar holds several prestigious fellowships and memberships including FAIS, FDFM, FRSPH, FACS, FIMSA, and MNAMS, reflecting her international professional recognition and contributions to surgical sciences.

  • Introduction of distractor application for post-burn finger contracture correction.
  • Performing venous free flap and free fibula head transfer for the first time in the institute.
  • Performing perforator flap surgery in one of the youngest pediatric patients in the department.
