Dr. Ankur Khandelwal is an accomplished Neuroanaesthesiologist, Critical Care Specialist, and Academician with extensive expertise in neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care, pain medicine, trauma care, and perioperative neurosciences. He currently serves as Additional Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Guwahati.

His academic and clinical journey includes advanced senior residency and specialized neuroanaesthesia training at premier institutions such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, and Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences. He has also served as Assistant Professor at Sharda University before joining AIIMS Guwahati as Associate Professor and subsequently Additional Professor.

Dr. Khandelwal has completed numerous internationally recognized certifications including BLS, ACLS, ENLS, ATLS Instructor Course, Biomedical Research, Headache & Facial Pain Medicine, and Radiofrequency Ablation training, reflecting his commitment to continuous medical advancement and evidence-based practice.

Research & Scientific Contributions

Dr. Khandelwal has established himself as an active researcher and scientific contributor in neuroanaesthesia, critical care, traumatic brain injury, stroke care, airway management, neuroprognostication, and perioperative neuroscience. He has authored and co-authored numerous PubMed-indexed original articles, reviews, editorials, and meta-analyses in reputed international journals including the Asian Spine Journal, Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, Indian Journal of Anaesthesia, and Medical Journal Armed Forces India.

As Organising Secretary, Chairperson, and Scientific Coordinator, he has led multiple educational initiatives at AIIMS Guwahati, including ATLS provider courses, critical care symposia, neurocritical care workshops, and postgraduate refresher programs.

He is actively involved in multicentric research projects including:

  • Hospital Based Stroke Registry (ICMR-NCDIR)
  • Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension International Registry under the aegis of the International Headache Society.
