Research & Technical Expertise

Dr. Gupta’s principal research interests focus on electronics and power-system thermal management, particularly microchannel heat sinks, heat-transfer enhancement, reduction of thermal resistance, and hotspot mitigation. His experimental work includes the development of microchannel heat-sink test rigs, thermal measurements, nanofluid preparation, and performance evaluation.

His Ph.D. research investigated conjugate heat transfer in nanofluid-cooled microchannel heat sinks, including the use of alumina-water nanofluids at low Reynolds numbers. His investigations addressed thermal resistance, pressure drop, pumping power, hotspot mitigation, and back axial conduction.

He has also developed computational and data-analysis capabilities using ANSYS/CFD, MATLAB, and Python, with exposure to machine-learning-assisted research workflows and an interest in emulation and digital-twin approaches for thermal systems.

Interdisciplinary Research Experience

During his Postdoctoral Researcher position at The University of Tokyo, Japan, from January to March 2025, Dr. Gupta worked on nanopore technology for biosensing and DNA sequencing. This experience broadened his research portfolio into nanoscale transport phenomena, biosensing, data analysis, and machine-learning-assisted interdisciplinary research.

His work therefore demonstrates an interdisciplinary progression from thermal-fluid engineering and electronics cooling toward emerging nanoscale technologies and data-driven research.

Industry & Engineering Experience

Dr. Gupta has substantial industrial exposure through his role as Design Engineer, R&D, at Chakr Innovation Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon, from May to October 2024. He contributed to battery-development projects involving thermal-fluid analysis, design, prototype testing, and data interpretation. He used SolidWorks and ANSYS for engineering design and analysis and gained practical expertise in 3-D printing and rapid prototyping.

Earlier, he worked as an Operation and Maintenance Engineer at Indian Oil Corporation Limited from October 2010 to October 2013. His responsibilities covered pipeline and tank operations, product handling, maintenance, safety, environmental protection, SAP-based activities, material management, project support, and administration. He also contributed to the restoration of an oil pipeline beneath the Ganga River using horizontal directional drilling.
