Dr. P. N. Krishnan is an eminent Indian plant biotechnologist, conservation scientist, and biodiversity expert with over four decades of distinguished experience in research, innovation, institutional leadership, and academic mentorship. He began his scientific career in 1983 at the Plant Biotechnology Division of the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI), Kerala, and steadily advanced through every scientific grade from Scientist 'A' to Director Grade Scientist (Scientist 'G'). He served as the Head of the Plant Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Division until his retirement in 2014.
Following retirement, he continued contributing to science as KSCSTE Emeritus Scientist at MBGIPS, Kozhikode, and currently serves as the Honorary Director of the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), where he continues to promote biodiversity conservation, biotechnology, sustainable agriculture, and community-based scientific initiatives.
