Dr. Sagar Bag is currently associated with the Department of Biophysics, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. Having consistently excelled in higher education, Dr. Bag secured first-class first rank in M.Sc. (Zoology with genetics and molecular biology) and received  gold medal from Vidyasagar University. He has been awarded prestigious national exams and fellowships including CSIR-UGC-JRF/SRF, DST-INSPIRE, Government of India (both Scholarship and fellowship), multiple IIT-GATE, NET qualifications and TIFR (JGEEBILS). Dr Bag's academic journey is further distinguished by international research collaborations, peer- reviewed publications in high-impact journals, and invited talks in globally recognized scientific forums—demonstrating his alignment with the highest standards of higher education and research excellence. Dr. Bag went to Frontier Institute for Biomolecular Engineering Research (FIBER), Konan University, Kobe, Hyogo 650-0047, Japan  as a short-term visiting scientist during February-March 2026.

• DNA–flavonoid interactions and microplastic pollutants
• Natural products chemistry, especially alkaloids and flavonoids
• Molecular modelling, protein chemistry, and biophysical techniques (NMR, ITC, UV/Fluorescence spectroscopy)
• Phytomedicine and DNA origami applications in cancer theranostics
• Host–microbe interactions, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and medicinal chemistry
