Dr. Rajkumar Manickam is an emerging researcher specializing in nanotechnology, nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, nanomedicine, drug delivery, blood–brain barrier targeting, and biomedical applications. His interdisciplinary research spans biopolymer-based nanocomposites, therapeutic nanomaterials for Alzheimer’s disease, environmental nanotechnology, and biomedical applications.

He has made significant scientific contributions to the development of nanoengineered biomaterials, especially for neuroprotection, oxidative stress attenuation, Aβ inhibition, and targeted drug delivery across the BBB in Alzheimer’s disease models. His work also extends to green synthesis of nanomaterials, bioremediation, and multifunctional materials with applications in healthcare and environmental protection.

Dr. Rajkumar has served in diverse academic and research environments with strong collaboration across biotechnology, nanoscience, life sciences, and environmental science. Periyar University awarded him the University Research Fellowship (URF-2019–2021) for his promising research potential and academic excellence. He worked as an SRF–PDF in the Department of Chemistry at SSN College of Engineering (Anna University), Chennai, during 2024–2025. There, focused on nanomaterial synthesis and advanced biomedical applications.

He has authored influential Major publications, including:

  • Gelatin/polyvinyl alcohol loaded magnesium hydroxide nanocomposite attenuates neurotoxicity and oxidative stress in Alzheimer's disease induced rats (International Journal of Biological Macromolecules-Elsevier)
  • Gelatin/PLA-loaded gold nanocomposites synthesis using Syzygium cumini fruit extract and their antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and anti-Alzheimer’s activities (Scientific Reports-Springer)

He has authored two published ACS book chapters.

His work highlights the design and characterization of advanced nanomaterials, their molecular mechanisms of action, and their applications in biomedical fields, particularly in drug delivery and therapeutic interventions for AD.
