Prof. Gyana Ranjan Rout is a distinguished Indian scientist, academician, and researcher in the fields of Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Plant Tissue Culture, and Crop Improvement. With more than three decades of teaching, research, and administrative experience, he has made significant contributions to biotechnology-driven agricultural innovation and higher education in India.

He served as Professor & Head, Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, College of Agriculture, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology from 2009 to 2022. He also held additional responsibilities as In-Charge Professor & Head, Department of Plant Physiology at the same institution. Earlier, he worked as Senior Scientist-cum-Administrative Officer and Head of Laboratory Unit at the Regional Plant Resource Centre.

He coordinated the DBT-funded M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology programme and served as Member Secretary of the Institutional Biosafety Committee at OUAT for more than a decade.
