Prof. (Dr.) Swarup K. Chakrabarti is an accomplished scientist, researcher, academician, and biotechnology entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in molecular biology, stem cell science, regenerative medicine, metabolic disorders, immunology, and translational biomedical research.

He began his research career as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC) at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (1991–1993), followed by a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (1993–1996). He later received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India at National Centre for Cell Science (1997–1998).

His international research career includes a postdoctoral research appointment in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at University of Illinois Chicago (1998–2001), followed by scientific and academic positions in the United States. He served as Faculty Scientist at University of Virginia (2001–2008) and later as Assistant Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School (2008–2012).

On returning to India, Prof. Chakrabarti contributed to biotechnology innovation through leadership roles including Chief Scientist at BioBharati LifeScience, Scientific Director at DiponEd BioIntelligence LLP, and Co-Founder & Executive Director of Stembionics Private Limited. From 2021 onwards, he has been associated with the H.P. Ghosh Research Center, Kolkata, as a Research Analyst (Honorarium-based Consulting).
