Dr. G. Tharun is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, currently serving as Assistant Professor at the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar, a position he has held since August 2012. He has also served as Head of the Department during August 2012 to October 2013, contributing significantly to academic leadership and departmental development. Prior to this, he worked as Assistant Professor at Gland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Narsapur, and Tirumala College of Pharmacy, Nizamabad, gaining extensive teaching and administrative experience.

Administrative & Institutional Responsibilities

Dr. Tharun has played a pivotal role in institutional quality assurance and governance. He is currently the Coordinator, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) at Palamuru University (January 2026 – till date) and a Member of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) Committee (November 2024 – till date). His earlier contributions include serving as Coordinator, Professional Courses (Examination Branch) and IQAC Coordinator for Criterion-3, where he was instrumental in strengthening research, innovation, and quality benchmarks.

Research Contributions & Publications

Dr. Tharun has an active research profile with 14 research publications in recognized journals. His research interests span pharmaceutical sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, herbal drug safety, antioxidant studies, and environmental sustainability. He has authored two scholarly books and contributed multiple book chapters in reputed edited volumes, reflecting his interdisciplinary expertise and commitment to academic dissemination.

He is the author of notable books including “Biotechnology of Forest Product Waste” and “Microbiology Laboratory Essential Requirements”. His book chapters address critical areas such as antioxidant and antimicrobial studies, epilepsy and adverse drug effects, toxicity of herbal drugs, and principles of organic farming, published by recognized national publishers.
