Research Interests & Academic Contributions

Ms. Singh’s broader research interests bring together literature, gender, culture, communication, contemporary social issues, and Indian philosophical thought. A significant emerging area of her research lies in exploring Gender Studies in dialogue with Indian Vedic thought, particularly the concept of individual Dharma as an ethical principle applicable to all individuals.

Her work seeks to examine how socially constructed gender roles have historically shaped perceptions of gender-specific duties and responsibilities. Through a broader philosophical understanding of Dharma in Vedic thought, she aims to critically revisit such gendered constructions and explore whether ethical responsibility can be understood beyond rigid, socially prescribed gender roles.

This interdisciplinary research direction connects Gender Studies and Feminist Literary Studies with Indian philosophical perspectives, creating scope for examining questions of identity, responsibility, ethics, social expectations, and gender through both literary and cultural frameworks.

Her work on gender representation and literary studies, combined with her experience in teaching, mentoring, academic content development, curriculum-oriented responsibilities, and continuing research engagement, reflects an interdisciplinary approach to higher education and scholarly inquiry.

Together with her contributions to academic dissemination, teaching, curriculum development, faculty training, and higher education, these engagements support her consideration for the Emerging Researcher Award in recognition of her emerging contributions to research, scholarship, and education.
