Dr. Vinay Kumar is an Agricultural Engineer and researcher specializing in precision agriculture, smart farming, agricultural robotics, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), drone technology, IoT-enabled sensor systems, GIS, artificial intelligence, and agricultural mechanization. He is currently serving as Test Engineer at the Farm Machinery Testing Center, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu).

Previously, he worked as Young Professional-II in the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, SKUAST-Jammu, under the Sensor-Based Smart Agriculture Project of the Holistic Agricultural Development Program (HADP). He also served as Senior Research Fellow at ICAR–Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Jalandhar, contributing to the nationally significant NASF-funded project on the development of an unmanned robotic ground vehicle for safe agrochemical spraying, in collaboration with CDAC Mohali. His research has been guided by eminent agricultural scientists and engineering experts from leading Indian institutions.
