Mr. Ishaan Mahajan is an emerging researcher in Organic Farming, Sustainable Agriculture, Soil Microbiology, and Plant Disease Management. He completed his M.Sc. in Organic Farming from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), with his master’s research focused on the identification and evaluation of potential Trichoderma spp. isolates for the management of soil-borne diseases in organically grown brinjal (Solanum melongena L.).

His academic training has provided practical exposure to microbial biocontrol, organic crop production, mushroom cultivation, hydroponics, plant-environment interactions, and agricultural quality management.

Research Experience & International Exposure

During his M.Sc., Mr. Mahajan conducted research on native Trichoderma isolates and their efficacy in organically cultivated brinjal, developing expertise in biological disease management and sustainable crop production.

He was selected for the prestigious ICAR–NAHEP–IDP International Exposure Programme and completed an eight-week international exposure/internship at Kansas State University, USA, in Crop Sciences. He also received ANRF–SERB sponsorship for a research internship at ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, where he worked on trait-based phenotyping for plant–environment interactions.

In addition, he received specialized training in spawn production and mushroom cultivation at SKUAST-J and gained industrial exposure in quality management.

Research Publications

Mr. Mahajan has demonstrated promising research productivity through publications in areas related to biological control, organic nutrient management, sustainable agriculture, soil microbiology, and organic farming. His research and review contributions include work on endophytic fungi and insect predators, biological and organic nutrient integration in cropping systems, and organic farming as a holistic approach to sustainable agriculture and food security.

He has also authored book chapters addressing soil microorganisms, soil-borne pathogens, beneficial microbes, microbiome-driven farming, and soil-smart agricultural systems.
