Dr. Ravi Bhardwaj is an accomplished academician, researcher, and extension specialist in the field of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs), Forest Products, and Utilization with more than 12 years of experience in teaching, research, and technology dissemination. He completed his academic journey with strong merit recognition, receiving the University Merit Scholarship during his B.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes from Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry for outstanding academic performance during 2004–2008 and 2010–2014.

He started his professional career as Teaching Research Personnel/Assistant Professor (Contract) in Forest Products and Utilization at the College of Forestry, VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, where he served from September 2014 to October 2016. Since October 2016, he has been working as Assistant Professor (Forest Products) at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry.

Research Expertise and Scientific Contributions

Dr. Bhardwaj has developed specialized expertise in nursery management, seed biology, propagation techniques, conservation, and scientific cultivation practices of medicinal and aromatic plant species. His research work focuses on improving seed germination, growth, yield enhancement, storage techniques, phytochemical evaluation, and sustainable utilization of valuable plant resources.

He has contributed significantly to research on endangered Himalayan medicinal plants, particularly Rheum australe D. Don, and other important species including Murraya koenigii, Andrographis paniculata, and Acorus calamus. His studies have provided practical approaches for improving cultivation practices, conservation strategies, and commercial production of medicinal plants.

Dr. Bhardwaj has published several research articles in reputed journals covering areas such as:

Dr. Ravi Bhardwaj received the prestigious Young Scientist Award (2015) from Astha Foundation during the National Conference on Global Research Initiatives for Sustainable Agriculture and Allied Sciences (GRISAAS-2015) held at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya.

He was also honoured with the University Merit Scholarship during his undergraduate and doctoral studies in recognition of his academic excellence.

Project Leadership and Extension Activities

Dr. Bhardwaj has successfully worked as Principal Investigator for the project “Promoting Aromatic Plants for Quality Essential Oil Production” funded under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) during 2025.

He has actively contributed to farmer-oriented extension activities by organizing and conducting training programmes on:
